Using Kanban for distributed teams

Speaker(s):

Managing our operations team working simultaneously on many Drupal projects, each with its own project manager was a challenge. We were working on projects and tickets that came in our workflow not from our manager but from external project managers each with their own priorities and project and that caused various challenges. PMs were frustrated because it was hard to visualise what our team was working on and why their projects were delayed by the operations team.

When we introduced Kanban last year we identified it as the best tool for our needs. It was a simple way to distribute the tasks, detect bottlenecks and give visibility on what our team was working on anytime. This allowed our team to work on various internal (infrastructure type of projects) at the same time with client facing project and maintain a nice workflow.

In this talk I will explain how our team is using Kanban, how we started with a regular board and as our team grew into a distributed team we moved to an online system; also I will talk about the things we have learned along the way and explain how easy it is to implement kanban for your team.
